The village is very well known for its history and its beauty. The chateau, owned by the La Rochefoucauld family, towers above the historic village. The Charente river which runs slowly by makes a peaceful setting for drinking and eating.

Activities in and around the village 

  • Kayaks and canoes that can be rented at La Rejallant (Ruffec) and paddled for 9 kilometres down to Verteuil 
  •  An underused village tennis court which can be hired for a token sum (payable at the Mairie) 
  • Walking - 
  • Chateau tour - which takes place most days. Sebastian at La Régie takes you through the history off the chateau, village and family whilst you walk around the gardens of the chateau, the old kitchens and the chapel. This gives  great  views over the village and environs.
